How Would I do this for onstage?

  • i need to cry on stage because my character found out her husband died in war and i am going to fake cry using salt water and putting it in my eyes. Should i do this before i get onstage? i only have like five lines though

  • It's alright if you can't cry on cue yet (though it something you should learn how to do, if you are serious about acting!) but I wouldn't put salt water in your eyes. What I would do is put something with a little rubbing alcohol in it directly under your eyes so they get the fume, and they will cry that way. It's just the way I've been told to do it, because it's less painful. Also, if you put it on directly before you go on stage, it allows a sort of delayed release action. Luckily, however, I don't need it anymore :-)

    Peace

  • Don't do that because it might wear off and you don't wanna seem like your crying before you even find out. Just... think of a sad really sad memory and let it all out. Thats what I do onstage. It works everytime. Or just act like it really was your real husband

  • If you are an actor, you don't fake it. You cry. Because actors react to the stimuli of the scene without inhibitions. That is what acting is.
